T700, T800, and T1100 identify different carbon-fiber families with different strength, stiffness, elongation, and processing characteristics. T700 is generally classified as a standard-modulus fiber, while materials such as T800 and T1100 are designed for higher-performance applications.
A higher number does not automatically mean that an entire bicycle frame is lighter, stiffer, or better. Frame performance depends on how engineers combine the fibers, the direction and number of carbon layers, the resin system, tube shapes, and manufacturing process. Different fibers may be used in different areas of a frame to balance weight, stiffness, strength, impact resistance, comfort, and durability.
